High school history , particularly the Australian history component, progresses from the ability to remember a string of events, to the ability to research, analyse, and put forward reasonable conclusions and arguments as to the meaning of these events, and how they affect us today. As a result, we have created three separate themes for the virtual site visits that we have created for the Australian Compulsory History syllabus, for years 7-10. |
1788-1888We have created a number of site visits around the Aboriginal way of life, Early European Colonisation, through to the heady days of the Gold rush
1888-1930Our site visits for this period cover the lead up to Federation, the Australian experience of WW1, and how this shaped our sense of identity - and the aftermath of 'the war to end all wars'
1930 to TodayThe Great Depression, followed by World War 2, post war migration , Korea and Vietnam all profoundly changed Australia in different ways. These site visits bring home the realities of life in these eras, and will provide fuel for thought as to who we want ourselves to be today
