About Us

Virtual History Australia was born as a result of some of the key challenges that the founder, Daniel Phillips discovered when running Ghost tours and History tours .

After literally spending more than a decade of research, and  more becoming uncovered over 10 years of running tours - there was way too much that could not be shared - albeit for entirely practical reasons.

In tours that covered:

  •  Sydney's major landmarks,
  • Aboriginal sacred sites,
  • Haunted mansions,
  • Victorian era hospitals
  • and Sydney's oldest cemeteries, that contained literally thousands of people who changed the world -

There was usually only time for about 14-15 stories per two hour tour. It was never a case of "Is there enough stories to fill the time?" rather " What do I have to leave out, in order to finish on time"?

This has been a source of constant anguish.Reality is always stranger than fiction. The hidden stories of Australia's past, are fascinating, and truly mind blowing...They deserve to be told!

The question became - "How can we tell all of these amazing stories to a wider audience - and particularly to people for whom getting to a physical tour just isn't practical? "

The mission of Virtual History Australia is to create a portal that allows:
  • Primary Schools,
  • High Schools
  • History Buffs everywhere,
to virtually travel back in time and visit people, places and specific periods of time. (Many of which would be nearly impossible for large groups, and members of the public to gain access to.)  Then come back, having had an emotional, fascinating and memorable experience - all within the comfort of your own classroom or home.
